The result of a translation chain: I made an animation based on Wittgenstein's ‘Philosophical Investigations;’ three friends described the animation as they watched it; I turned their words into this film. Gradually the imagery becomes less lucid and more self-reflexive.

 

The animation mimics aspects of both surrealist drawing games and 1960s text art, but rather than providing a supposed insight into the human unconscious (à la Exquisite Corpse) or valorizing the purity of linguistic definition (as with conceptual art) my film filters philosophy through subjectivities, turning receivers into senders and emphasizing the murky changeableness of language.
